The Genesis of Ho Xuan Huong
Initially, the location was a valley traversed by the Cam Ly stream. In 1919, a French engineer named Labbé conceived the idea of creating a reservoir by damming the stream. By 1923, authorities constructed a dam to separate two bodies of water. Unfortunately, a storm in 1932 breached both dams. Subsequent repairs from 1934 to 1935 resulted in a new, larger reservoir, officially christened “Grand Lac” (meaning “Large Lake” in French). From there, Ho Xuan Huong emerged.
